State of the Children Report

The report represents an inaugural effort at developing a comprehensive data view of Detroit children from birth to age 18. The typical data picture one gets for Detroit is fragmented, based on a series of individual, topic-specific portraits. The Skillman Foundation has asked Data Driven Detroit (D3) to bring those portraits together in one document. The plan is to produce annual updates and to expand data access in the process. Up-to-date information on Detroit’s children will cover:

  • General demographic characteristics
  • Family economic security
  • Early Childhood (0-5) well-being
  • Child health and access to health care
  • Education
  • Safety and community
