Legacy Awards recognize area's most promising youth

The Skillman Foundation presented 50 Promising Youth Legacy Scholarships on Aug. 22 as a tribute to the Foundation's legacy and a sign of its future. The young men and women will receive funding up to $10,000 toward education.

Led by a series of rousing cheers from dozens of City Year youth, the Kids Matter Here Neighborhood Summit I was launched into action at the Detroit Science Center with more than 2,000 people attending the all-day event to celebrate the second anniversary of the Foundation’s Good Neighborhoods program.
