A talented Detroit student watched as her artistic creation of a community garden sprang to life when The Parade Company unveiled The Skillman Foundation contest-winning float design at The Parade Studio in Detroit.
Collaborative effort links higher graduation rates to long-term health
The Detroit Community-Academic Urban Research Center has been awarded a $200,000 grant by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and an additional $100,000 from The Skillman Foundation to improve long-term health of people in Detroit by increasing graduation rates.

White House Fellows make stop at Foundation during Living City Tour
Jan 24, 2012Recently, The Skillman Foundation had the privilege of hosting a reception for the White House Fellows. The White House Fellows program, developed in 1964 by President Lyndon B. Johnson, was created to provide young, talented individuals with the opportunity to view government close-up and allow them a first-hand opportunity to explore career opportunities in service to their country. The program is now one of America’s most prestigious programs for leadership and public service.
